Welcome to the Letterpod, the letterboxing podcast is a podcast for letterboxers, created by letterboxers. A podcast is like an audio (or video) cross between a radio program and a magazine. You can listen to it, and You don't need an iPod to listen to it, but you can move the file from your computer to an iPod (or MP3 player) if you want to.

Letterpod first began in May of 2006 when Choi, letterboxer and podcaster extrodinaire, first started working on the orignal Letterpod. The original podcast lasted 5 episodes, and featured lots of contributions from other letterboxers, through the the Yahoo group, Letterboxing_Podcast.

Episode 1 was released on June 16, 2006 and featured Choi explaining what letterboxing was all about.

Episode 2 was released on July 1, 2006 and featured Music Woman telling about her trip to Dartmoor, and and interview with The LazyLetterboxer.

Episode 3 was released on July 15, 2006 and featured Orion explaining how to get, follow, and solve clues, an interview with Kreepy Kelli, and Dale End Farm with clues to planting a letterbox.

Episode 4 was released on July 29, 2006 and featured Orion with a how-to segment on postal letterboxing, and sounds from the Greek Myth Story event.

Episode 5 was released on October 17, 2006 and featured Celtic Quinn explained how to safely pick up hitchhikers.

Interest waned in the winter of 2006/2007, and the original website that hosted the podcasts was retired. Planning began for Episode 6 with a new hosting service, www.podbean.com, in June of 2007. Jackbear began the role as compiler of episodes and on-air host. New episodes began in August 2007, and the Letterpod website also began posting audio clues and letterboxing related videos.  Ten new episodes were posted in the following two years.

The Letterpod was mostly "dead air" after LB CON in July of 2009 to the summer of 2010 as jackbear took time to enjoy his new baby girl, and adjust to a new job.  The Letterpod returned in the summer of 2010 in a slightly new format.  Jackbear focused on creating shorter episodes, releasing them once a month on the last day of the month.

The Letterpod has listeners from coast to coast in the US, and has had listeners around the world! From the restart to the spring of 2011, the Letterpod had over 42,000 site visits, with over 39,000 feed hits.

In July of 2012, Jackbear announced his retirement for hosting and producing duties.  He planned to end his term at the letterpod in December of 2012.

Beginning in January of 2013 Indiana Tim took over hosting duties.
